Jane Walapu.

I am a psychotherapist, coach and supervisor who lives in Manchester. I grew up in Wales and am from a dual heritage background (Black African & Indian).

My motivation for becoming a therapist was born through my own life experiences. Experiencing the incredible benefits of having the right professional support in my life first hand, I wanted to be able to provide the same support to others.

You can explore more about how I work by watching the YouTube video below, or click through to one of my LinkedIn posts.

My Qualifications.

After a decade working in corporate, I began my transition to become a psychotherapist, studying a Certificate in Counselling Skills at Highgate Counselling Centre, London in 2017 followed by a Post Graduate Diploma in Psychotherapy and Counselling at Salford University, in 2019.

I am a registered member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy (member number: 392499). I completed my coaching training as part of the ICF Accredited Coach Training Program Mastering your Power in 2022 bringing creativity and momentum to compliment my therapy work.

I completed my Level 6 Certificate in Therapeutic Counselling Supervision at Yorkshire Counselling Training in 2025. This means I can provide a reflective space for practitioners, helping them feel supported as they navigate challenging topics, build confidence, and continue to grow in their practice, all while promoting ethical and thoughtful work across the counselling and psychotherapy industry.

My experience.

I built my therapeutic experience supporting survivors in their healing and recovery after abuse. Over time as my practice has evolved a lot of my work has focused on romantic relationship issues, burnout and self-belief. Topics I often explore with my clients . . .

  • identity issues
  • self-esteem / self confidence
  • attachment styles
  • intuition
  • domestic abuse
  • divorce/separation
  • relationship issues
  • grief/loss
  • sexual assault
  • communication
  • race / racism
  • stress & burnout

Though many of my clients came with the above areas of concern, each were people and with that brought their worlds and many issues from across the human experience. If you don’t see who you are what you want to work through in the above please rest assured I’m able to hold space for you.
